Website Exposure – The Chamber’s website is the place where more and more people start to look for services, shops, dining, arts and artisans and accommodations on the Island and surrounding towns. Over the last year, 25,000 people visited the site, looking at 72,000 pages of business listings and events, offering unparalleled visibility for your business to people looking for information about the Island.

Your membership in the Chamber comes with a listing on the deerisle.com website that puts your business in front of that audience. We also enhance our outreach with emails to hundreds of folks who have expressed an interest in Island events and what to do and where to go on the Island and surrounding towns. And we promote Island businesses and happenings on the Chamber website and our Facebook page.

Deer Isle-Stonington Map & Guide, Your Best Advertising Bargain – In 2023, the Chamber produced a four-color map and guide to the Island and distributes it through local businesses, the Chamber’s website and the Chamber’s own Welcome Center to visitors arriving on the Island. Numbering 3,000 copies, the Map and Guide provides a locator map to Island and mainland businesses that puts your business’ name and location in the hands of thousands of potential customers. Not to mention thousands of online downloads from deerisle.com. Your basic membership in the Chamber comes with a listing in the Island Map & Guide* and the opportunity for enhanced advertisements.

The Personal Touch at the Welcome Center – Volunteer greeters work for hundreds of hours each Summer and Fall at the Welcome Center just over the bridge promoting your business to hundreds of visitors. The requests for information are varied — from where to find dining, accommodations, arts and artisans, shopping and services, you name it. The volunteers at the Welcome Center have been your customers for years, and they are your best brand ambassadors. Your membership includes space in the Welcome Center literature racks for your promotional materials and a QR Code for visitors to scan to access to all Chamber Members’ business information, the first point of contact for many visitors to the Island.

On top of that, your Chamber dollars go to support and maintain visitor kiosks in Stonington and Deer Isle and the Fourth of July festivities. The Chamber also issues a monthly newsflash, which informs Members about important Island events.

Additionally, the Chamber Board has recently formed a committee with Board members and volunteers from other Island organizations seeking to re-establish the widely popular annual Island Fisherman’s Day celebration that was last held in 2019.
