DI-S Historical Society: Touring Through Time

July 30, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

At the turn of the last century, summer visitors began arriving in significant numbers on Deer Isle. People “from away,” they were called, or “the summer people,” or “rusticators.” The Deer Isle-Stonington Historical Society will tell the story through documents and photos from the archives, printing and blacksmithing demonstrations, and to compliment the theme of “Summer Visitors,” Sandy Oliver will talk at 3:00pm on “Food for Tourists.” Sandy is a food historian and columnist for The Working Waterfront (“Journal of an Island Kitchen”), and Bangor Daily News (“Taste Buds”). Her talks are always informative, fun and audience participation is encouraged.
See you there!
