Deer Isle-Stonington Independence Day Celebration

July 4, 2022

Independence Day 2022

This year’s Deer Isle-Stonington Independence Day Celebration will kick-off on Monday, July 4 with the annual parade returning to its traditional time of 10:00am in Deer Isle Village. The theme is “tropical flamingos” and includes Jimmy Cook, local UPS driver, as the Grand Marshal.

Other events taking place include the Stonington 6, a virtual walk/run to support the Island Community Center, the Masonic Lodge lobster dinner located in Sunset following the parade, and much more.

The celebration continues with an evening of entertainment and a record number of food vendors on the Commercial Fish Pier in Stonington beginning at 5:00pm. Performances include local band, Along for the Ride, as well as a comedy set by Jimmy Cook. The Island Community Center and Island Fishermen’s Wives Association have put together goodie bags that will be handed out to children. The daylong celebration will conclude with a fireworks display off the harbor at 9:15pm.

The parade will take place rain or shine and in the event of a total washout and/or dense fog, the fireworks will be rescheduled for Tuesday, July 5.

Additional events will be added to the schedule as they are confirmed in the coming weeks and announced on the Deer Isle-Stonington Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. The island-wide Independence Day Celebration is sponsored by the Chamber with support of the Fourth of July Planning Committee and the towns of Deer Isle and Stonington.
